About This Online Exhibit
This online exhibit Human Brutality and Dignity is held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Kwangju Uprising, a pivotal moment in Korean history and in the movement for democracy. It highlights how we remember the event with collections of records and memories to reconcile the past, to shape our identity, and to move forward.
This exhibit was intended to be displayed at the Asia Collection located on the 4th floor at Hamilton Library from May 1-July 31, 2020. As COVID-19 took hold, we made the decision to move the exhibit online and took the responsibilities of developing this online exhibit. This exhibit is organized by Ellie Kim, Korea Studies librarian from the Korea Collection at University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Library, and MLIS student Minyoung Chung. |
